EQT Power Pack Stage 2 Plus (08-17 STI, 08-14 WRX)
This package builds on our Stage 2 by adding the Tomei Equal Length Header and Up-pipe. Just like the Stage 2 package, this results in a very well rounded power setup without sacrificing reliability. The addition of the header adds another 15-20hp and 20-30ft-lbs of torque on top of the already healthy gains from the basic Stage 2. The header also smooths out the powerband and exhaust note.
This package will greatly improve the overall response, smooth out drivability, improve fuel economy, and improve overall reliability of the engine. Turbo lag is virtually eliminated and you end up with a wide powerband and torque available at any RPM. This package will also provide a slight increase in turbo induction sound and a nice, smooth exhaust note with minimal drone. Expected power gains are 95-110 Horsepower and 110-130Ft-Lbs of torque. Total install time is about 7 hours.
This setup consists of an AEM Cold Air Intake, Invidia Catted Divorced Wastegate Downpipe, Invidia Q300 Catback Exhaust, Tomei Equal Length Header and Up-pipe, DW65c Fuel Pump, and Cobb AccessPort V3 with EQT Custom Base Map:
-- We start with an AEM Cold Air Intake which increases airflow and improves overall response. We chose the AEM CAI for its excellent fit and finish as well as consistent and stable airflow and MAF sensor characteristics. Some intakes on the market introduce unwanted turbulence around the MAF sensor which can cause inconsistent fueling, power, and drivability issues. Many intakes also do not use heatshields which results in heat soak and very high Intake Air Temperature readings which reduces power and consistency. We've tested many different intakes on the market and found the AEM CAI to be the best all around in all of these categories.
-- Next we free up flow on the exhaust side with an Invidia Catted Divorced Wastegate Downpipe. We chose this downpipe for its excellent quality and fitment. The cast stainless divorced wasteagate collector separates the wasteagate exhaust gasses to create a less turbulent, higher flowing environment for the main exhaust gasses. This results in better spool, more consistent boost control, and of course greatly improved power and torque. This downpipe is constructed from 304 stainless steel 3” tubing for excellent durability and smooth flow.
-- Then we complete the exhaust system with the Invidia Q300 Catback Exhaust. There are many catback exhaust options out there and most of them perform similarly. We chose the Q300 for this package for its excellent balance of overall power capability, mild-moderate sound levels, and clean looks. This exhaust is will give you Subie a nice throaty sound without attracting too much attention. The smooth bends and 3" piping make for excellent power while the resonator keeps drone down and provides a smoother tone. The fit and finish is also top notch. Please note there are many other catback options available, so feel free to contact us if you prefer a different style.
-- Next we add the Tomei Equal Length Header and Up-pipe. We chose the Tomei product for this because of the excellent quality and fit at a reasonable price. We have installed countless Tomei headers and have never seen any problems like cracking that plague some other headers. The header helps to efficiently move exhaust air out of the engine and into the turbo. This adds an extra 15-20hp and 20-30ft-lbs of torque throughout the mid range, while also significantly reducing the exhaust gas temperatures. The header also smooths out the powerband and exhaust note and results in a very smooth driving car.
-- Now that we optimized airflow into and out of the engine, we have to address fueling. For this we use the Deatschwerks DW65c Fuel Pump. The factory fuel pump runs out of steam and drops fuel pressure at high RPM's. This results in a dangerously lean condition which can cause engine damage over time. Upgrading the fuel pump cures this issue and provides enough fueling throughout the powerband to keep your engine healthy and happy. The DW65c is a direct drop-in pump for easy installation, yet still offers 265lp/h of flow which is plenty for this setup even on E85!
-- We round out the setup with a Cobb AccessPort V3 with an EQT Custom Base Map. The Cobb AccessPort is the world's best selling, most flexible ECU upgrade solution that gives us full control over the factory ECM. With this package we include an EQT Base Map custom tailored to these specific modifications to optimize power, response, drivability, and reliability. We achieve this by fine tuning and optimizing boost levels, air/fuel ratios, ignition timing and cam timing for the specific parts and fuel being used. Our custom base map for your car will be loaded onto the AccessPort and ready to install.
